Emily M. ArceI come from a big family of six so I grew up close with my parents and siblings. My mother was a photographer and my dad works in IT. I grew a passion for cameras and technology from them and found out about East Brunswick Vocational and Technical High School. There I applied for the Digital Filmmaking program and met my inspiring instructor Louis Libitz. He taught me every field of media from audio to photography and showed me all the genres to go with it. Here I grew my passion even further and developed a love for editing. He helped me to set up my portfolio and even how to create a resume. With this knowledge I turned to apply at Rutgers’ Mason Gross School of the Arts for the Digital Filmmaking major. There I learned even more about film and how to pursue the career I am so passionate for. I continue to grow and learn more about film and my love for it grows too. With my prior 4 years of knowledge at EB Vo-Tech I was able to apply for a Production Assistant job on campus in my freshmen year and worked my way up to a Student Manager position at Scarlet Media. I spent another 4 years refining my editing skills and learning professionalism working with clients on multiple projects from social media content to learning modules. While there I was given the opportunity to work briefly with NBC Universal as an Elections Graphic Playback Operator. I learned how to play out graphical elements in full-screen and lower third format while also developing the skills to work in a high-stress rapid environment. I continue to work with NBC Universal to further my knowledge in the industry of television.
